I love crock-pot dinners. Oh lordy, do I love them. How else could I make a yummy, from-scratch dinner for the mister and I and still get to…
Go shoe shopping?
Pick up some dahlias from Home Depot and plant them?
Go out for a sushi lunch? (No picture of that–the camera couldn’t capture my speed eating.)
Drink a delicious beer?
(Okay, I *may* have done that crock pot dinner or no.)
But you get my point. Crock pot dinners, like Real Simple’s Orange Chicken with Potatoes, are awesome because they require almost no work and are often absolutely delicious.
There’s a lot going on in this dish, from the orange, to the potatoes, to the onions, to the butternut squash, but it all harmonizes nicely. And it’s so satisfying to make a dinner that includes the protein and the sides all in one pot.
So fire up the slow cooker, toss in your ingredients, and then fuggedaboutit. It’ll be there waiting for you when you get home.
