the more you know: getting candles to stand straight

I’m sure the problem of wobbly candles has kept many of you up at night, tossing and turning and losing sleep.  Well my friends, be prepared to have the best siesta of your life tonight, because I have learned a new technique that will help you keep your taper candles straight in their holders and save you oodles of cash that you may have otherwise spent on candle buttons.

Here’s how:

1) Trim the wick to 1/4 inch and light your taper.

2) Tilt the lighted candle over your candleholder. Let the wax drip from your candle into the bottom of the candleholder (3-4 drips should do the trick).

3)While the wax is still warm, stick the candle into the candleholder, being sure to keep the candle upright.

4) Ta da! Your candle will no longer wobble in its holder and everyone will marvel at your mad candle-stabilizing skills.
